AI Badge Scanner: Scan Badges, Business Cards & QR Codes

How to scan event badges, paper business cards, notes, and QR codes with the AI Badge Scanner, and what each scan costs.

Written by George El-Hage

The AI Badge Scanner turns anything with a name and a company on it into an enriched, CRM-ready lead. It works at any conference or trade show: no organizer badge kit, no event API, no rental hardware, and no agreement with the venue.

What you can scan

  • Event badges, with or without a QR code or barcode

  • Paper business cards

  • Handwritten notes (a name and company scribbled on paper is enough)

  • LinkedIn QR codes

  • Other digital business cards

How it works

  1. Open the scanner in the Wave Connect app.

  2. Take a picture of the badge, card, or note.

  3. The scanner reads the text it finds, typically the name and company.

  4. Waterfall Lead Enrichment plus AI search then find the verified business email, phone number, job title, and LinkedIn profile.

  5. The enriched lead is saved to your contacts and synced to your CRM.

The scanner does not depend on the badge carrying a QR code. Many event badges only show a name and company, and that is all it needs.

What a scan costs

Each successful scan and enrichment uses one lead from your balance. Every account starts with 10 free trial enriched leads that never expire. If enrichment cannot find verified contact details, you are not charged, and duplicates are not charged either. See How Event Lead Capture Pricing Works in the Event Lead Capture collection for plans and rates.

No internet at the venue?

Scan anyway. Captures are stored on your device and everything syncs automatically once you are back on Wi-Fi or cellular data.
